The Children’s Writer’s Guild is pleased to announce The Anna C. Price Poetry Prize established to support older girls and young women in the development of their poetic craft.

The vision I have in creating this contest through multiple dialogues with my dear friend, CWG President and Cofounder Sheila Wright, is to transmute all that [my daughter] Anna so lovingly and generously gave to the world she travelled in during her short life to other teenaged girls who are gifted and, perhaps, have their own struggles, to empower and support what our world desperately needs.

A consent form (for the purposes specified) will be sent to each winner to be returned within ten days of being notified a winner. If no winners are chosen, or no submissions are received in a given age group or category, or legal age winners or parents or legal guardians of underage winners fail to provide CWG with the aforementioned consent form, then CWG will return the prize money to the Anna C. Price memorial fund to be used for public school programs benefiting adolescent girls interested in the arts.
