Atlas Snail

the work and its author

Atlas Snail began as a mistake. When you dump black paint on a canvas and let it dry, you get thick lines. These lines were shooting out everywhere in all different directions. I sat looking at my ruined canvas and wondered what to do next. So, I got out my oil sticks and started to color. The tiny lines made an ideal earth. Obviously, a snail should carry the sphere. Dancing about is a lizard and a couple of other creatures. I believe they are all heading into town, at a snail’s pace.
