When you meet Cathie you will know immediately – she loves animals and children and well, all people! Having been a medical secretary in a nursing home, a preschool teacher, a legal aid assistant, to working in a maternity ward, she really has been able to display her affection for others. As an artist she has had the privilege of benefiting many charities with her cheerful artwork.

Her husband Michael also supports her successful efforts in wildlife rescue rehab release for over 20 years. Their happy family consists of 4 cats, 3 small dogs, 2 birds—all rescues, conscientiously spaying and neutering the four footed ones! They live in complete harmony within their historic 1908 cottage, off a one lane bridge, bordered by a creek. The old house is lovingly decorated with antique dolls, bears, toys, radios and cameras.

When not tending the animals, creating art in her modest home studio, or sitting at her writing desk, you will find Cathie usually outside. She loves working in the gardens whether trimming, planting or devising a unique bit of whimsy to enhance the blooms.

Her admiration of children’s picture books shows in the wonderful collection she keeps displayed in her old fashioned library room. With great fondness she recalls the Teachers and the many stories they read aloud in the classrooms of her elementary school, knowing these instilled in her a deep appreciation for books. She longs to become a published author illustrator herself, inspired by the talents of vintage, dedicated writers/artists, Maurice Sendak, Beatrix Potter, Tasha Tudor and the beautiful, creative lives they led.

She enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity to write reviews for Children’s Writers Guild!! She believes books are powerful in establishing a heart full of creative imagination, hope and possibilities that makes life more fascinating for us all!!!
